Introduction:

The Christian elements of Trolldom history in Scandinavia are often conveniently neglected by modern Western educated people. In the literary traditional education, it is said that Trolldom and Christianity stand on opposite sides and one must choose. Fanatism and separation such as that has never been a part of our tradition and today, as in the past millenias, people include that which works in practicality and that which is of value to their soul.

Like all oral traditions Scandinavian Trolldom was influenced by and moved with its contemporary context. In Old Norse myth, rituals, folklore and traditional practices we find the very same content as in those labeled Orphic, Dionysian, Gnostic, Neoplatonic, Hermetic, Christian and Mystic and we find the very same content in our herbal, mineral and material magic as those described by medicinal compilations of ancient times.
