About the Event

The Fylgia – Spirit Animals of The Trolldom Tradition.

A Fylgia is a spirit being that can take animal form. The most common type of Fylgia reflects the personality of its owner. It follows the person and can appear in dreams or the waking state, often as a warning. In the old Norse, warriors were followed by wolves, chiefs by bears and cunning people by foxes, among other things. In old Icelandic sagas, fylgias are mentioned in various forms, for example in Njals Saga there is the Fylgia of Gunnar Lidarände, which appeared as a bear. In old Scandinavia a person's Fylgia was someone’s soul or spirit essence and is often called "Rå" in later times.

In this Training workshop we will explore the most common form of Fylgia as well as those used by practitioners of Trolldom.
